Featured Free Wi-Fi location

I thought I'd start a new feature here on Free Wi-Fi News and pick one of the recent additions to the Wi-Fi FreeSpot Directory as the "Featured Free Wi-Fi Location".

I'm travelling this week and I'm spending a few days in Gloucester, Massachusetts visiting friends. While strolling down Main Street I came across the Lone Gull Coffeehouse and Juice Bar. It's brand new - very cozy - nice furniture - and of course - Free Wi-Fi. They're at 146 Main St., just a block up from the harbor - see them on the web at http://www.lonegull.com

Hospital Wi-Fi

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California is offering free Wi-Fi to patients and visitors in the hospital campus and in two off-site dialysis centers. Visitors may have to pay a nominal fee later this year but patient access will remain free.

It was dialysis patients that made the first requests for Wi-Fi access. They have to spend several hours, two or three times a week getting blood cleansing treatments. Free Wi-Fi access allows them to stay connected for work related tasks or just gives them an alternative to reading or watching TV.

The same goes for patients recovering from surgery or other conditions that may require an extended stay in the hospital.
