Wi-Fi-FreeSpot Directory Additions

The Wi-Fi-FreeSpot Directory's success and growth can be directly attributed to location owners and customers who send me e-mails about new locations to add. For that, I'd like to offer a big Thank You!

Publishing an e-mail address on the site allows this to happen. Unfortunately, it also brings me a lot of spam and virus laden e-mails as well. I have Anti-Virus protection, as should everyone, but ocasionally problems do occur and one just did. I lost all of the last week's submissions of new free Wi-Fi locations so I can't list individual towns and cities in this update but I can say that new locations have been added in California, Colorado, Vermont, North Carolina, Arizona, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Alabama, Ohio, Argentina, Hungary, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Austria, Tennessee, Washington, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Louisiana, and Texas.

Thanks again and keep the e-mails coming.

Wi-Fi in Estonia

The small country of Estonia could teach the rest of the world a lesson about Wi-Fi access. The BBC has a story about the man mostly responsible for the growth of Wi-Fi in Estonia - Veljo Haamer, editor of the wifi.ee website.

"Today, there are more than 280 throughout the country. You can find access points in many of Estonia's cafes and pubs and two-thirds of them are free to use."

One of the best things that he's done is to make sure that each access location is clearly marked.

"And more importantly, he says, the hotspots are clearly marked with orange and black signs and stickers. Haamer says that in the US, many people did not know wireless access was available, because the hotspots were unmarked. He was determined that would not happen in Estonia. "
